The stats & stories from inside your team

Most of our team gathered in Lucca, Italy ahead of our season restart. It was great to be able to race the final 2 weekends of the Virtual Tour de France while on camp. The Zwift platform brought us together during lockdown even though we were so far apart so to be riding side by side together in the final races of the virtual Tour de France gave us that extra bit of motivation and drive. Key to success in virtual racing is planning, communication, strategy and data with a huge commitment to teamwork. Staff and rider briefings, course recon, warm-up and cool-down protocols as well as nutrition, playing crucial roles.

To walk away as the overall winners of the Virtual Tour de France securing every classification on the race and raising significant money, north of 400,000 Euros, for Qhubeka makes it all so worthwhile and is thanks to you, our partners, for supporting us. The event was covered by 18 TV broadcasters in nearly 130 countries. Close to 4,5 million videos were viewed on the official Tour de France communication channels alone, while the traffic on the official website reached over 800,000 unique visitors. Also, more than 200,000 amateur riders participated in the virtual Etape du Tours creating huge talk ability and data crunching of their times, power etc. compared to the professional riders.

We were also very privileged to once again celebrate Mandela Day (18 July) with Laureus Sport for Good in raising awareness for the programmes across the world that they support. This has never been more pertinent considering the times we’re currently experiencing, and so we enjoyed two Zwift rides of 67 minutes each that were broadcast and featured a host of the wider Laureus family spending the day with us.

And now, with racing getting underway at Vuelta a Burgos this week, we cannot wait to get back out there and continue building on our success. I hope you are excited as we are!

Virtual Tour de France winners! 🇫🇷🍾💛

NTT Pro Cycling made history by being crowned the first ever Virtual Tour de France Champions! Our commanding performance saw the team ride away with the yellow general classification jersey, the green points jersey, the polka dot king of the mountain’s jersey and the white jersey for the best young rider. The team also secured the victory in the overall team classification.

"Sport has the power to change the world."

On the 18th July, we joined forces with the Laureus Family and NTT Ltd. for two #SportForGood Pelotons to honour Mandela Day and raise vital funds for young people impacted by Covid-19. A massive thank you to NTT Ltd and Arkadin for showcasing the role technology has in creating a better world.
