Data Sets and

Beating Hearts

The stats & stories from inside your team

Hi everyone, I hope that you’re all primed and ready for our very exciting partner challenge. We certainly are!

The season is now inching closer to restarting, our staff and riders can’t wait to get back out on the road and racing. In this edition of Data Sets and Beating Hearts our team manager, Bjarne Riis, shares thoughts on how those preparations are going.

Finally, a big “thank you” to all of you who have registered for our partner challenge. If you haven’t done so yet, then you still have a small amount of time to get those entries in! It's going to be a great event, and you don’t want to miss out.

I hope you are all well!

Best regards,

Team manager, Bjarne Riis, on navigating the team during this time and looking ahead to the start of the season.

Challenge update

It is your final chance to sign up for our partner challenge! Entries close at midnight on the 19th June! We have over 400 participants from more than 20 organisations and we are so excited to get this underway! So, do not forget to sign up and make a donation to Qhubeka!

Qhubeka

It was the first #NewBikeDay for Qhubeka since COVID19 lockdown restrictions have eased a bit, which took place in Ocean View, Western Cape. We look forward to seeing many more bikes distributed through South Africa. #BicyclesChangeLives

Meet the team: Mattia Michelusi

Role in the team: Performance coach

Duration with the team: This will be my 5th season with the team.

Best moment so far: The first stage of the Tour de France 2016, where Mark Cavendish won the stage and took the yellow jersey. That was a good way to start my first Tour de France.

I still remember the roar in the bus when we saw Cavendish on the TV raising his arms. During that Tour we won 5 stages in 14 days and had champagne for dinner almost every evening. But I’m sure more beautiful moments are coming in the future!
