Welcome to this week's edition of Datasets and Beating Hearts!

This week we share with you something truly unique: an inside look into how Rainbow, our communications solution from Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, came alive in the virtual world and enabled us to secure victory at the Zwift Tour for All. As a team, we are extremely fortunate that the solutions our partners provide us help us grow, develop and ultimately achieve success.

Kevin Campbell, the general manager of our Continental team, gives us an insightful look into how our U23 squad have coped during this difficult time and how they are planning to reset and refocus for the rest of the season.

And, we also have our very exciting partner challenge launching later this week, we can't wait to share those details with you! Keep an eye out for it.

I hope you all have a wonderful week.

ALE Case Study

NTT Pro Cycling leveraged its high-performance team’s expertise and technology solutions, specifically Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s Rainbow platform, to challenge for the overall Zwift Tour for All victory. Here is how we did it.

Around my table

Shotaro Iribe and his wife, Takako Iribe, are currently in Osaka, Japan. Shotaro was originally in Lucca, Italy getting ready to get his European season underway, but returned home as the COVID-19 pandemic brought the season to a halt. Tom van de Gracht, Head of Operations, has returned to work at our service course, which is based in the Netherlands.

Conti team Interview with Kevin

Kevin Campbell, the general manager of our continental team (under 23’s), gives us an update on how the team have adapted to the COVID-19 situation, and how the riders are slowly returning to training, now that lockdown restrictions are starting to ease.

Avela

We were all deeply shocked when earlier this year we received the devastating news that Avela Matam, from the Velokhaya Life Cycling Academy, was struck in the head by a stray bullet while travelling home from school in a taxi. His prognosis was dire, as doctors feared that he may not make a full recovery and could possibly be paralysed. We are overjoyed to report that he is confounding the doctors as he continues to make a miraculous, inspirational recovery; and he sent this wonderful message to our team last week.

Any contributions to assist with his recovery can be made here.

He was one of the aspiring young riders who joined us at the Tour de France Grand Depart last year.
